State of Wonder

Would you devote your life to curing disease? What extremes would you endure to make it happen? There are many examples of extreme measures going on in State of Wonder and not everyone would be willing to do them. How far is too far? Is there such a thing as too far?

The Night Circus

Have you ever believed in magic? I mean truly believed that is was real and possible. Maybe it was when you were younger or maybe you still do. How did this novel effect you? Did it make you want to believe? Maybe you don't believe in any of it and you think it's silly. But little things happen every day, things you might call surprising or coincidental. When something happened that made things work out absolutely perfectly. There's that feeling, that for a moment, a fleeting thought where maybe, just maybe that magic can happen.

Have you ever had that feeling?

Perfect People

There's been a point for each of us where we've despised one of our flaws. That it slowed us down or made things more difficult. Wishing that if only things were different we'd be okay. If you had the option to fix those flaws, for yourself or for your children, would you? How far would you go to make things better?

Divergent

Everyone on earth is connected by the fact that we have a personality. But we also each have our own unique set of personality traits, one of which stands out more than the rest. You can be defined by joy, anger arrogance and more. What trait describes you best? Do you know?

Shatter Me

Juliette has a strange set of abilities that most people would call superpowers. Today, as far as we know there is no such thing. But there is an astounding number of people with great natural talents; I would go so far as to say that everyone has one. We all have something that we have always done well. This could be anything ranging from being artistically inclined, to solving advanced equations. What is your natural ability? And if you were to use it for the right things, could you call it a superpower?

Before I Go to Sleep

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be in Christine's position? How terrifying it would be to wake up every day and not know who you are?
The novel covered this point very thoroughly and I believe there is much to be said on it, but there is a flip side.
What if you were in Ben's position.Could you cope if this condition afflicted you spouse? Your friend? You Child?

Book Reviews

Many people these days write book reviews to tell you what they thought of the book. But as a reader that's not what we want. What we want is to know if we will enjoy the book. I think reviews should be written to tell the reader enough information to catch their interest without giving anything important away from the book. The difference is that if you provide us with your thoughts on a book and you give it a terrible review, you will discourage people from reading it, while it may only be that that particular novel didn't appeal to you. Whereas if you only provide enough information to make the book sound interesting, you give the reader the chance to make up their own mind without biasing their opinion.

What do you think?
